Cleveland Web Design Week continues with a look beyond your website, into your entire digital branding strategy.  Digital branding encompasses more than just having a good site- you need to have all aspects of digital marketing covered.  And although some principles remain the same no matter where you are, there are some aspects of digital branding that are unique to your area that you need to keep in mind.

So where do you begin with your digital strategy?  Freshsparks had a great article about the topic, and we used that as a launchpad for our discussion today.

Setting goals for your digital branding strategy

Start with some tangible goals that will help you get to where you want to be like:

  • I want to increase my brand awareness
  • I am going to interact with my customers to build a positive perception of my business
  • I am going to convey loyalty and build advocacy in my customer base

When you know what you hope to accomplish, you’ll have an easier time making it happen.

  • Know what you can offer
  • Make sure everyone else knows too

All of the items in that toolbox work together to accomplish your goals, and knowing what you need to know about your business helps you get it done.  Upload great content to your site.  Good landing pages, informative and well optimized blogs, great on page content- and then use that in other places.  Share the blogs on your social.  Create a video channel in YouTube and reinforce the ideas your are sharing there.  Use your monthly email to educate your customer base about the topics your are highlighting.  Finally, invest in some pay-per-click campaigns to drive traffic back to the landing pages.  It all works together in one giant wheel.

You still haven’t mentioned Cleveland

Incorporate the city into all of that content.  Mention the city (or the suburb you operate from) in your blogs and on your pages.  Use your social media to celebrate accomplishments in the city or to highlight other businesses that might do the same for you. Establish yourself as a local business, even if you are thinking national or international, and the city will support you back.  Be proud.  You’re a Clevelander.
